This won’t be a cup year, but they’ll still be in a good position to reset for next season. It will be a very important summer though. New coach, new goalie(s?) and dump some dead weight. Next year matters the most, because 97 has one more season after that and if it’s not looking like he’ll re-sign, they’ll need to bite the bullet and trade him before they lose him for nothing. I still think there’s a good chance that they can sign him and keep him an Oiler for life, but only if management shows they can continue to win and be a contender. Another season like this won’t do it.
