If so, NIR could be a shorter and more accurate acronym than AISH, a 25% cut to the number of letters. Imagine the savings! They'll do a number...and replace it with nothing in return.
Is this possible with the current FAR & square footage requirements on standard lots? Now that the 6v8 unit debate has been resolved, we need to laser focus on further measures to curb the urban sprawl and its supporters trying to bankrupt our city.
I have written a message to all progressive Councillors encouraging them to increase the maximum unit count on RS lots from 8 to 10 if the lot is within 200 metres of a bus stop, school, park, daycare, medical service or grocery store. I also asked to remove the size cap on businesses located within the RS zone.
The 8 unit maximum was an arbitrary compromise. 10 units was the default maximum.
I highly encourage you to send a similar letter.

Alberta Budget 2026: Edmonton gets grant funding restored: 'It was very important to the premier'
For the first time since 2019, the Alberta government will pay the City of Edmonton in full when it comes to grants in place of taxes.edmontonjournal.com
But they will take more away with the higher education tax. There is no net benefit. It's political smoke and mirrors.
I believe the grants will help the city with its budget and also perhaps flow through in lower increases to municipal taxes in the future. Although the increased education tax by the province may offset that.Yup, last year the province announced an income tax cut of about $2/day for Albertans and then at the same time increased the education tax the city is required to collect with property taxes - of course city councils then have to wear that and take the heat and not the premier.
