It also wasn't even Rutherford's car.
No new suburbs could be a start. The up front costs of those are massive. ROI is much faster for infill and higher density. Pause the sprawl for 10 years. We don’t even have a transit station in the SW yet, let alone a higher frequency train/BRT."The city’s capital investment outlook, which council is scheduled to discuss on Jan. 27, describes just how constrained finances are ahead of the next four-year budget. The report suggests the city will be able to spend about $11 billion on both renewal and growth projects across all departments in the next 10 years, representing a funding shortfall of $10 billion. City administration has advised council to keep growth projects to a minimum and instead focus on renewing the city’s aging assets."

I think this paragraph is really important for us to keep in mind. City council has a ton of demands for capital spending but is going to be pretty constrained over the next decade. Gonna be hard to dream big with little money available, any big projects are gonna have to come from the province or feds.
Private industry isn't growing much here, unfortunately. Our mill rate is pushing everyone out.^ Help from Provs and Feds and Private Industry would help.
Everyone?Private industry isn't growing much here, unfortunately. Our mill rate is pushing everyone out.
Except Sabor*Everyone?
Mil rates on their own are meaningless. The actual taxes paid relative to the services provided is what businesses might compare and those are mil rate times assessed value. You can’t compare one without knowing the other.Private industry isn't growing much here, unfortunately. Our mill rate is pushing everyone out.
30% of AB’s population thinks they are in the USA and Fox News tells the truth… so they had to go because thats who keeps Smith in power. It worked, it was fast, efficient and not expensive. I particularly detest the type of politicians who take things that are not broken and try break them.
I think that's my biggest problem with this government. I can handle disagreeing with policy choices. I can't handle seeing willful destruction, hateful decisions made with the distinct desire to hurt or control, and ideologically based sheer stupidity. It worked, it was fast, efficient and not expensive. I particularly detest the type of politicians who take things that are not broken and try break them.
