Alberta Politics

Well its not over yet, but probably much harder to organize on a local level than thought, unless an MLA is very unpopular for a specific reason such as a scandal.

This was supposed to be one of the more likely to succeed, so if it doesn't the pressure and interest may quickly go away.

I wonder how LaGrange's numbers are.

I wonder if province will be coming to the rescue financially in part regarding Calgary's water pipe fiasco - Ive heard local politicians there bring up the idea.

Report shows city councils from 2004 onward were kept in the dark regarding the extent of the problem from their city admin - which is brutal (but takes some heat off Nenshi). Meanwhile other cities with similar constructed pipes spent hundreds of millions to build new system, Calgary continued to fund other city building initiatives - and now Alberta taxpayers should help out while their city taxes stay low?

I was thinking this today as well. The province bails Calgary out for reasons, and once again, the rest of the province (but more importantly, Edmonton) pays as a result.

Yes, I could see that happening, but given how Smith and the UCP really like to micromanage and control things, municipal politicians and the City of Calgary may not like the price for such a rescue.
