It was a shit show for sure, but what are you suggesting? That 17,000 would be Cartmell voters all left preemptively because of the long lines? Lol

Same owner as the O2’s (who is the same owner as Spotlight Cabaret, just off whyte ave) which is just gonna be downsized. This is supposed to be a pretty upscale cocktail bar. The name is lame but I think this may end up being a pretty cool spot.

    Federal Politics

This was actually probably the strongest mandate in NDP history. With a record turnout, Avi Lewis got more first rank votes than Singh, Mulcair, or even Layton. Coupled with record breaking fundraising numbers, and a surge of new NDP membership, I think there’s cause for cautious optimism if...

Old Strathcona & The Garneau Real Estate

Yeah, I don't think anything is happening in that building for a while. Revex.ca isn’t a functional website and all those renderings of that rooftop restaurant are ai generated images hoping to entice someone to go in on a major investment with the owner. Don’t see that happening any time soon...

    Edmonton's Population

Brother, you know this is a forum for city development right? You’re currently in a tread called “Edmonton’s population” raving about gender blockers and JK Rowling. Can I maybe point you towards some Facebook comment sections that are more suited for your interests and style of rhetoric?

Rezoning application by the city’s real estate branch for big swathes of land by the Remax centre. From DC to new zones “River Crossing Medium/Large scale”. A lot of this land is City-owned, right?

    Blatchford

Took a trek with my dog to Blatchford a few days back to see how the neighbourhood is shaping up after only following along on this thread. I was initially surprised at just the size of the land. I think just looking at renderings I didn’t really grasp the full scale of development planned...

“Egg Club”, “Egg Slut”, “Brunch Bitch”… There must be some consultants for these private equity firms that have insisted that millennial-coded breakfast/brunch spots are the only viable restaurants now. “Heavenly Deserts” and “Brunch Society” have both just opened up on Whyte ave too.

    Old Strathcona / Whyte Avenue

Yeah, admittedly I’m personally disappointed in what this “Hub” is turning out to be. But i’d suggest they’re ultimately being short sighted by going with stable daycare/dentist tenants and forgoing any vision of a retail/restaurant hub which I think had some real viability here. On a similar...

    Old Strathcona / Whyte Avenue

Kind of a lame “Hub” so far. I thought I saw some early renderings showed all the west CRU’s sharing a pretty big patio space. I really don’t understand why a dental clinic felt inclined to lease that spot at what I presume is pretty high rent.

I’d be interested in seeing those other tables!

    General Infill Discussion

Oh, this is super insightful actually. I’m a complete layman and had kinda figured this whole space was prohibitively expensive/complicated for individuals to enter but that MDDL group seems to provide exactly the support one might need. I’m not too familiar with all the particulars of the...

    General Infill Discussion

Apologies for interjecting on this conversation. I’ve got a maybe silly question regarding infill that I’m hoping some of the professionals here that are involved in development can provide some insight for me: I have a relative who essentially inherited two large plots of land (each with a...

Old Strathcona & The Garneau Real Estate

Unusual (but welcome) set of row homes approved for development on a big corner lot, just north of whyte ave. This was issued late in 2024. Hope to see this one go through just for some diversity in new builds in this area. Although im seriously surprised they didn’t opt for a mid-rise here...

    Municipal Politics

Agreed. And if any of the new polls are to be believed, the race seems to be coalescing around Knack v Cartmell. I’ll be going Knack.
