    Blatchford Development | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

I agree with you on the goal of opening up Blatchford to a broader range of price points. The way this is expected to occur is through the mid-rise developments and stacked town homes, a number of which are slated for construction. Before relaxing any architectural guidelines I would like to see...

“And I would disagree with the premise that if something doesn't work then it must be because the "free market" decided. The free market isn't always right, and it's less often free.” This is so true, and home buyers can feel forced to choose from a range of imperfect options. I’m happy to see...

Edmonton home builders’ motto has largely been “think inside the box”. Blatchford challenges the conventional views of both builders and home owners, and this type of change is often met with resistance. With time, I hope it succeeds in providing a different example of what community can look like.

It’s true that there is not a lot of demand for high quality, dense housing stock in Edmonton, and I hope that Blatchford can provide an example of what this can look like. Large scale builders appear to be quite risk averse in Edmonton, and continue to churn out relatively bland housing stock...

Good quote from that article: “They’re not wrong to ask for the commercial,” says Kodian, “but who is going to lease it? How do you bring the retail in without the rooftops, and how do you bring the rooftops without the coffee shops?” This is part of the chicken and egg challenge that Blatchford...

I don't think I saw this posted previously. It looks like GEC Architecture has submitted a proposal for a 25 unit multi-dwelling building next to the Airport Tower and Littlewood Park at the entry to Blatchford. This is site J, marked as sold on the City of Edmonton Land Sales map...

I agree with the example provided above - the design guideline is more inspired that the counterpart townhome. I do like the front patio features of the Ocheller townhomes, which will be connected to walk-out basement suites. I think this will allow for a similar function to the example above...

Yes, this mixed use development will be on lot "G" at the end of the block next to Ocheller and Carbon Busters. Mutti is finishing their designs and expect to release floor plans and pricing in 2 months. Condo prices to start around $300,000 for 1 bedrooms and $350,000 for 2 bedrooms...

Here are a few more pictures of the pedestrian street. The 2nd and 3rd pictures are of Mutti Homes, and the 4th and 5th are of Ocheller by Redbrick:

It look like the first 3 pictures are of homes located on the pedestrian pathway. The first picture is Ocheller by Redbrick, while the second and third pictures are by Mutti. The 4th picture shows the Encore townhomes, and these are not located on the pedestrian pathway. I'm eager to see...

@archited Wop May Plaza was part of the original Perkins and Will design, and I wonder if this will still be included in the final plan.. Here is a graphic from a 2014 presentation:

The Stage 1 Parcels map on the City of Edmonton website has expanded to show the future properties adjacent to the current area under construction. This includes more fee-simple and condo townhomes, as well as condo apartments. There are also 2 more street names showing: Cedric Mah Road and...

    Jasper Gates Redevelopment | 90m | 30s | RioCan | Stantec

I attended the open house last night. There were representatives of RioCan, Stantec and CoE present, as well as councillor Andrew Knack. Most of the display boards were fairly general, and I've copied them below if anyone is interested. The rezoning is expected to go before council in Fall...
