    LRT Expansion Planning

You could argue the same for many Eastern North American cities.

    LRT Expansion Planning

The US systems are a low-hanging fruit, too. Canadians often compare themselves to the US to make themselves feel better, when the reality is that in a lot of metrics, they're still in second-last place among developed countries, with the way things are here only being better compared to the...

    Edmonton International Airport (EIA/YEG)

Also if you're flying east-west, over long distances, the differences are marginal between someone going from Victoria to Ottawa via Edmonton vs Calgary.

The metro area populations are very similar, and Calgary's overall transit numbers are still much higher than ours. Yes, you can argue that each city's transit operates only within city limits (mostly), however there are many people in St Albert using ETS and connecting at Naki Transit Centre...

Calgary Transit's bus ridership is 199,000/day Q3 2023 (taking the total for Calgary Transit and subtracting C-Train ridership). ETS' bus ridership is 223,000/day Q3 2023 (similar to Calgary for calculating numbers). Yes it's higher but not significantly. They also have the start of an actual...

None of this has to do with what I critiqued about your post. But yes, their ridership is driven heavily by downtown employment and, yes, that is common knowledge.

What are you talking about? Brentwood, Bridgeland, Erlton, Banff Trail (sorta), Heritage, Fish Creek, Westbrook, Victoria Park, and Saddletowne all have varying levels of TOD. Edmonton has Century Park, Stadium, Clareview, and Holyrood (sorta). Soon SPR/142. That's half the amount Calgary has.

Edmonton, Ontario? The NW in the name like that is definitely saying they've never set foot in Edmonton, Alberta, at least. Not sure how they do it in Edmonton, Ontario, though.

    Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

Outside of rush hour, the trains are never busy and are frequently very empty I've noticed. While the Capital Line does not have traffic volumes outside of peak hours, it does seem to retain ridership better outside of those hours.

    West Edmonton Mall

A lot of the retail WEM gets wouldn't wind up downtown in cities of a similar age/size. Even Calgary's downtown retail offerings, while significantly better than Edmonton's, pales in comparison to Chinook or CrossIron. Ottawa is a slight outlier being that the most prominent mall in the city...

Be that as it may, it also has the largest parking lot in the world. The LRT will likely shift the modal share a bit more towards transit, but a lot of those shoppers are still gonna be driving and parking.

A lot of people that live around WEM work in Downtown Edmonton. Next.

    Valley Line LRT/ Valley Line West | ?m | ?s | City of Edmonton

WEM will definitely draw people, but while it does employ a lot of people, my hunch is that you're still going to get more people on the Valley Line from Meadowlark going to Downtown (or Oliver, which is basically an extension of Downtown) than WEM on a Tuesday morning. Sure there's the Mis...
