So is there any word of what may be going into the CRU's? The space in the middle picture looks pretty big.

I don’t think there’s a tenant yet for the second pic, or if there is it hasn’t been announced. The SW corner of 101St/102 ave will be National Bank.

^add salt to the wound that what was left basically went to WEM says A LOT.

I am hearing positive rumblings about a major restaurant coming to one of the CRUs (assuming CRU 160); really curious to see who it might be, but that would do wonders and pair well with the rumoured casual 'Zenari's-like' spot and cafe/wine bar.

But it is a real shame about the high end retail.

Manulife was really the last vestige of "old downtown luxury retail" that simply doesn't exist anymore. As much as City Centre Mall's decline has marred downtown recovery, getting decent tenants back into Manulife is pretty damn important, too. I'm very curious about this whole thing.
The decline of downtown caused the decline of City Centre and Manulife as well, not the other way around. There actually still are some luxury retailers downtown, although some have moved elsewhere from Manulife to newer buildings. However, hopefully the renovation helps them get some decent tenants.

In many other more normal cities that don't hate or neglect their downtowns like many Edmontonians seem to, a building like this would be a good location for something like an Apple Store.

Curious if it's going to be retail or a service business. Either way, nice to see another retail vacancy get possibly removed.

More small steps like this and soon enough we might even notice we've got decent retail in downtown again

Would love it if we got Zenari's 2.0 there.
Speaking of which. Does anyone know what happened to that wonderful mosaic that was above the old Zenari's? Does anyone remember it? Or am I mistaken?

Rumours are a cafe/wine bar and then a full service brand restaurant on the NWC.

But I guess we will wait and see what actually arrives.

Either way, it is so nice to see this building returning to prominence.
