I agree Edmonton is a major city with a world class venue, not worried about missing out on too many acts. It could though mean a bit less economic impact with less out of town draw if Calgary gets their own dates for the same shows. Competition can breed some good innovation though hopefully as Edmonton has been able to sit back and watch Calgary not really compete for some shows due to roof limitations at Saddle dome as far as I understand.

True and this is with Edmonton's free reign over concerts coming to Alberta for the most part given the Saddledome's building constraints. Once Calgary's new arena comes online, it's going to get even tougher. Hopefully more and more things to fill up the arena, and an effort to get the district to offer more than banks.

It will likely be easier, actually.

Partly very bad/unfortunate timing, was completed around when COVID hit.

Sure, but then they built (or, let's be honest, fenced off) the fan park to host all the things they had promised for the area.

I went to some of the earlier hockey championship watch party/celebrations in ICE District Plaza, it became very full/crowded, so the fan park became overflow and then also used for other events that needed a bit more space.

About time we get a big hockey event like this that the public can actually attend that the league promised to us back in 2016.

I wonder if they'll do any updates or refreshing of some spaces in Rogers for the event. I wouldn't mind some tech upgrades such as the videoboard getting modifications to keep up with newer ones. We could also use one more hotel slotted just below the JW in tier in time for this event. EXCITED!

Would need to get on their horse to get a new hotel but agree one is needed. Wonder if they can get the new event park venue built by then? I don't think Valley Line will be complete unfortunately but that would have been a nice to have up and running.

A cool boutique hotel maybe around Metterra size or smaller on 104 st would be so awesome...
