Valley Line LRT | TransEd/Marigold | City of Edmonton

My guess in 2031. I appreciate the work Marigold is doing to expedite the physical infrastructure built but I think we're going to face the same issues when it comes time to commission the system.

Well, that's pessimistic... One would hope Marigold has learned from TransEd issues and not fall into the same pitfalls

Assume the worst, hope for the best. 😁 The real question is, what will be opened first, Valley Line West or Eglinton Crosstown?

The fact that the Eglington Crosstown is not open yet is genuinely abysmal. Whatever the reasons or excuses are, the fact that the Valley Line was literally in the conceptual planning stage when that project began construction and is now almost fully done is just ridiculous. There's gotta be an audit of that project or something in the future no? 😭

I'm still banking an a Q3-2027 or Q2-2028 opening for the VLW (I don't see it happening in the winter, for obvious reasons). Which will likely be earlier than Eglinton Crosstown lol

Marigold aren’t the ones who will do commissioning. That still needs to be decided as there is no operator currently responsible for that line. My guess is it will be transdev as they operate the southeast

I heard back from Marigold today about their work plan. As of now, they intend to have crews working along 104 Ave (not including the intersection at 124 Street) on weekends, but not late evenings/night time. As for 102 Ave, they only anticipate doing drainage work for now, but may do roadwork and track slabs later this year.
