So he has enough money to buy the building, tear the building down, leave it a mess, but cites no good reasons of to build. Meanwhile stationlands has built and will continue to build, Parks has completed its residential high rise and may soon build more. And further he probably is unwilling to sell to someone else who will build. The city has to stop being weak on property owners that do this. Arlington site was at least somewhat out of the way but 101 is right in the heart and is, as said in the article, an eyesore.

To me, this says a lot about the integrity and professionalism of a guy who responds to questions about the absolutely embarassing and disgraceful condition of this site in the "heart of the heart" of the dowtown core of his hometown city with a shrug. I don't know how we are ever going to truly move forward with rivitalizing our beleaguered core with people like this owning large chunks of property in the heart of our downtown.

There are people who really belong in a local corporate hall of shame. Someone should put up a sign saying this mess is by ... with both his personal and company name on it.

At this point the Arlington site actually looks better, although it took far too long for it even to get to where it is now.

Call your councillors!
Wrote an email to Anne Stevenson after walking by on my way to a work lunch. So far haven't heard anything back and they're usually good about responding. Her comments on the video clip suggest she's as frustrated as the rest of us.
I attended one of Anne Stevenson's meetups last year, and this tower was a concern with the Procura site at 100 Ave. She's very aware of it, so frustrating that in comparison with Ashley Salvador, who passed a motion for decrepit properties in her ward, Anne didn't seem bothered by it. It was also asked if these sites could be part of that motion, but she said that those sites wouldn't fall into that category (I'm not sure why).

I've emailed her several times to express other concerns (like the sudden removal of the fountain in Warehouse Park), and she never responds; it's one of her assistants who checks her email; I'm not even sure if they pass the messages along, but you for sure should email her and let her know your concerns: anne.stevenson@edmonton.ca

I sent an e-mail to both Councillors Salvador and Stevenson about a lack of contraflow bike lane maintenance in their wards and only Salvador responded regarding that and another e-mail about a couple of missing active transportation links, AND forwarded both concerns to the city departments responsible.

She's replied to my previous emails (yep, I'm one of those people who email their councillors on the regular) but that seems to be over. Perhaps it was the zeal of the newly elected that's given way to ennui now that she's settled in. Still, I'll take any response, even by an assistant, than the silence I received about that eyesore.
