Three months since our last check-in on the progress of the DIALOG-designed revitalization of HSBC Bank Place, and work on the building appears to be nearing the end.
The new curtainwall glazing installation appears to be complete on the 18-story tower, as well as the application of what appear to be granite panels accenting the east elevation, and metal panels on the north-side columns.
Work is also progressing on the new lobby, which is being clad in white metallic paneling with some granite paneling tying the exterior to the interior through the large curtainwall windows.
HSBC Bank has been open in the podium for some time, and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) has also settled into the office portion.
The revitalization project by EPIC Investment Services and AIMCo and has seen the 317,000 square-foot building stripped to its concrete shell and rebuilt with entirely new mechanical systems as well as the new triple-glazed curtainwall system. Once the upgrades are complete, the building will boast an "AA" class rating, and is targeting LEED Gold Certification, WELL Gold Certification, and will be the first office building in Western Canada to be pursuing Wired Certification.
SkyriseEdmonton will continue to follow this project as it wraps up. Check out the project Database for more information and photos. What do you think of the revitalization of HSBC Bank Place? Leave a comment below, or join the conversation in our discussion Forum.
