Little more than a month since we last checked in on Hat at Five Corners, and the 24-storey residential tower by Cidex Group and NORR Architects has now topped off. Located, as the name implies, at the apex of Edmonton's Five Corners (Jasper Ave, 102 Ave NW, and 95 St NW), the high-rise development will soon achieve structural completion.

Clad in a mix of black and white spandrel, the tower has become a standout feature of the local skyline. Tall for the neighbourhood, being situated just west of the core, Hat at Five Corners will more than likely spur a redevelopment boom in the years following its imminent completion.

Moving down to street level, it is apparent that there remains a significant amount of finishing work yet to be done. Set to include a large retail podium, Hat at Five Corners will go a long way towards reanimating the streetscape, its presence to help humanize the formerly bleak intersection.

At 199 units, Hat at Five Corners will deliver upwards of 250 new residents to the area, the injection of some much-needed pedestrian vibrancy to be of major benefit to the neighbourhood.

SkyrsieEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
