A month since we last checked in at the site of Hat at Five Corners, and the nearly topped-off tower has all but reached its final height. With only the top two floors and mechanical level left to go, it will not be long now before the aptly-named, 24-storey addition to Edmonton's Five Corners district is ready for its close-up.

The NORR Architects-designed residential high-rise by Cidex Group will soon be clad in a high-contrast balance of black and white spandrel, acented by window glass, which will help make the tower a standout fixture upon the local skyline. Located just east of the core, at the convoluted confluence of Jasper Ave, 102 Ave NW, and 95 St NW, Hat at Five Corners will fill out its irregular lot well, its ground-floor retail podium to inject some much-needed urban vibrancy into the neighbourhood.

The tallest of its kind in the district, Hat at Five Corners will serve as something of an anchor, knitting together Boyle Street and Riverdale to the downtown core. Close as well, to transit, the new high-rise will be a prime address for those looking for mix of affordable downtown living and a chance to explore a relatively low-profile corner of the city.

The 199-unit Hat at Five Corners will soon be home to upwards of 250 new residents, the presence of which will more than likely begin to place the neighbourhood on a fast track to urban renewal and gentrification.

SkyrsieEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
