The City of Edmonton will host a public drop-in session on March 14th in regards to the proposed Oliver-area rezoning for the massive Edmonton Motors Site redevelopment. Set to be held Thursday evening from 6-8PM and the Oliver School Gym, the session will be great opportunity for interested and/or concerned members of the public to learn more about the proposal and voice their thoughts.

The rezoning proposal would allow for the construction of two residential high-rise towers, at 140 and 170 metres apiece, to be built at the southeast corner of Jasper Ave and 115 St NW upon the former Edmonton Motors Site. Headed up by Pangman Development Corp. and John Day Developments, and with designs by Kirkor Architects Planners, the 43- and 35-storey towers would radically transform the neighbourhood, adding a great deal of height and density to the area.

Located along Jasper Ave just west of the core, the sprawling Edmonton Motors Lands represents a fabulous opportunity for the ongoing redevelopment of the core. This being said, as with all projects of this scope, there will be those opposed to the proposal for all of the usual reasons. Thus, no matter one's view on this, or any other project, it is of vital importance that those who wish to have a say make their voices heard.
