More than a month since our last update, and progress at Hat at Five Corners has been moving along swiftly. While the 24-storey tower continues to rise, cladding work has continued apace, with white and black glass spandrel and windows now climbing several levels above the podium.

The mixed-use Hat at Five Corners by Cidex Group and NORR Architects is set to become the centrepiece of The Quarters Downtown. Set atop a large, two-storey retail podium, eventually to be known as "The Corners," the bulk of the tower will be residential, with space for upwards of 250 residents spread across 199 units.

Located, fittingly, at the nexus of Edmonton's Five Corners (Jasper Ave X2, 102 Ave NW, and 95 St NW X2), Hat at Five Corners will go a long way towards the neigbourhood's revitalization. Close to Churchill Station, and thus close as well to downtown, the development at the border of Boyle Street and Riverdale will help knit the eastern side of the core together.

With less than 10 storeys to go before topping off, it will not be long now before Hat at Five Corners reaches its full height. Assuming cladding work continues at its current speed, it will also not be too long before passersby get a more accurate picture of the structure's full impact on its surroundings - which, based on current projects, ought to be highly positive.

SkyrsieEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
