A month since we last checked in at the rapidly rising Encore Tower, and the first glimpses of cladding and glazing work have come to light. Windows have been installed on at least two levels above the podium, thereby providing curious onlookers with a subtle notion of how the rest of the 43-storey tower will turn out.

Set to rise high above its multi-storey retail podium from the corner of 103 St NW and 102 Ave NW, Encore Tower by Westrich Pacific Corp and Dub Architects will be predominantly faced in a glass curtain wall. While the podium will be ingratiated into the streetscape via the use of more traditional materials, such as brick and stone, the tower will be faced entirely in glass, thereby making for a solid addition to the downtown skyline.

Speaking of the podium, while it may yet be some time until its facade begins to take shape, the appearance of a large, lime green wall of waterproof insulation membrane can be seen as it slowly engulfs the structure's concrete shell. 179 units will be placed above the retail level, thus bringing upwards of 250 new residents to the core.

Centrally located, and within walking distance to the YMCA, City Centre mall, ICE District, and Jasper Ave, Encore Tower will be a prime address for those looking to live right in the centre of the action. Ideal for young professionals, this development in particular highlights the many benefits of being located directly within the city's central business district.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
