Just over a week since our last update, and it would appear that cladding is imminent at the site of Encore Tower as the 47-storey project continues to rise. Careful observers will notice the appearance of support brackets for the coming window wall that will soon grace the exterior.

Located at the corner of 103 St NW and 102 Ave NW, Encore Tower by Westrich Pacific Corp and Dub Architects has been designed as a mixed-use development, with 179 condo units placed above a three-storey commercial podium with retail at grade.

Situated in the heart of the downtown core, Encore Tower will place its upwards of 300 residents within striking distance of the City Centre mall, YMCA, ICE District, and the many delights of nearby Jasper Ave.

Encore Tower represents a shift towards downtown living that has yet to be replicated locally in the same critical masses that have already been realized in cities across Canada such as Toronto and Vancouver. For while neighbourhoods such as the ICE District are beginning to reverse that trend, it is in actual fact projects such as this which will go the furthest in getting condo dwellers living directly within the traditional boundaries of the downtown core.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
