A little over two weeks since our last update, and progress at the HSBC Bank Place Revitalization has been moving along swiftly. Demolition crews have now removed nearly half of the glazing from the exterior ahead of the planned total overhaul of the 38-year-old, 19-storey, office tower.
Located at the heart of downtown Edmonton at the corner of 101 St NW and 103 Ave NW, the 317,000 square-foot office block was purchased in 2017 by AIMCo (Alberta Investment Management Corporation). AIMCo will be soon vacating their premises at the Intact Insurance Building on Jasper Ave in exchange for new digs within floors 11-19 in what will be then be the beautifully revamped HSBC Bank Place.
Designed by DIALOG, the most dramatic part of the transformation will take place at street level, the front entranceway to be reimagined as a bright and airy multi-storey street wall of glass. The tower will be LEED Gold certified, the office space itself to be upgraded from Class A to AA.
Once complete, the HSBC Bank Place Revitalization will be a welcome addition to the core, placing the tower more in line with the new builds of the adjacent ICE District.
SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
