Nearly four years after breaking ground, Stantec Tower was officially topped-off on Friday, taking its place as Canada's tallest tower outside of Toronto. Soaring to 251 metres above ground, a 3-story mechanical penthouse is currently being assembled atop 66 stories of office and residential floors.

Representatives from Katz Group, ICE District Properties, Stantec, and the Edmonton City Council joined together on the 60th floor to celebrate the latest milestone with a ceremonial signing of steel.

Media and dignitaries were invited to the 69th floor for photo opportunities and once-in-a-lifetime views of the city from nearly 250 metres above.

The views from the top were impressive, the snow-capped peaks of Edmonton's rapidly rising core playing nicely off the tree-lined banks of the North Saskatchewan River.

Stantec has completed consolidating it's 1,500 Edmonton employees into the now-open office portion of the building, occupying floors 3 through 20. The global consulting firm will soon be joined by Dentons Canada LLP, DLA Piper, PwC, and others in the remaining office floors.

Above the offices, 483 condominium suites of SKY Residences are under construction, with occupancy expect to begin in fall of 2019.

If the wintertime views are anything to go on, it is likely that the top of Stantec Tower will be a popular spot to take in the city for years to come.
