When we last checked in at the site of Westrich Pacific's Encore Tower, the soon to be 43-storey residential high-rise had only risen as far as its three-storey podium base. Three weeks later, and the tower has erupted from its base, the development now standing nearly six storeys above grade.
The 140-metre, 179-unit high-rise was designed by Dub Architects, the exterior to be glad in a smooth glass curtain wall punctuated by generous-sized balconies. Rising high above a multi-storey retail podium with frontages along 103 St NW and 102 Ave NW, the mixed-use development will replace a long-standing surface lot, its presence to be of benefit in terms of boosting local foot traffic.
Centrally-located, Encore Tower will sit across from the YMCA, Hudson's Bay, and City Centre mall, in addition to being within easy walking distance to the ICE District and Bay-Enterprise Square LRT Station. For those looking for a night in, the tower will sport a range of amenities, including a rooftop pool and lounge.
Units will range from 800-2,800 square feet, the upper floor penthouse suites to boast private outdoor terraces. Once complete, Encore Tower will deliver upwards of 300 new residents to the core, across a range of price points, thereby continuing what has been a steady continuum of urban development across the city.
SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
