Today's Throwback Thursday takes us back to the fateful afternoon of March 24, 2009, when the historic duo known collectively as the Kelly Ramsey Building was destroyed by fire. Soon-thereafter discovered to have been the work of a local arsonist, the devastating fire that destroyed the 1920's-era structures eventually led to their partial restoration as part of the recently completed Enbridge Centre

Viewed above in 2013, the destroyed Kelly Ramsey Building was eventually demolished to make way for the Enbridge Centre. Softening the blow, however, heritage experts were brought on to handle the careful documentation and recreation of both facades, which were later incorporated into the base of the new structure.

Captured from the same vantage point in 2017, the recreated facades resulted in the partial restoration of two highly significant pieces of Edmonton's past.
