Contractors working on the new Edmonton Public Library Capilano Branch have been booking it since our last update, and are now putting the finishing touches on the new building. Opening soon in Terrace Heights, just west of the Capilano Mall along the Fulton Ravine, the library promises to be the star attraction of the neighbourhood, bringing some literary flair to the region.
Viewed above, crews have been busy getting the grounds ready for visitors, the hardscaping now largely complete, with softscaping work not far behind.
The new library branch takes advantage of its natural setting at the edge of Fulton Ravine, with large clear glazing spanning nearly the entire length of the building facing the ravine.
The branch is expected to serve over 167,000 visitors annually when open, and will include a makerspace, study rooms, meeting space, and a community program room.
A recent blog post by EPL also shows interior work is currently ongoing (above) as the building marches toward an expected late 2018 opening.
SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
