Just three weeks since our last update, and progress at the site of Westrich Pacific's Encore Tower by Dub Architects has been moving along swiftly, the structure now nearly three storeys above grade. Eventually set to rise to almost 140 metres, the 43-storey, 179-unit residential high-rise at the corner of 103 St NW and 102 Ave NW in downtown Edmonton will place residents within the heart of the action at the nearby ICE District.

While work is for now still concentrated on the three-storey podium base, which will be home to a mix of lobby, amenity, and ground-floor retail space, the progress to date provides passersby with a good idea of the scope of this portion of the project.

Viewed above, the scale of the podium base can be easily appreciated, the former parking lot soon to be the site of a bustling retail space and home to nearly 300 people.

Featuring a double-height ground floor, the retail space will be provided an airy, open vibe, which will hopefully give the podium a welcoming feeling and attractive street presence, the deeply setback tower to rise from within the centre of the site.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
