Focusing on the many ways in which a city can become healthier, more innovative, and smarter, the proposal is the culmination of thousands of Edmontonians' submissions spread across 120 different ideas directed at ways to improve life in the city.

Improved public access to health care and services, along with a greater connectivity to academic and other public institutions related to health, are among the main avenues of creative thought to be explored should the City's submission make the short list of contenders nationwide.

Finalists will be announced this summer, those short-listed to receive $250,000 to develop a more in-depth proposal. The winning proposal, to be submitted by Winter 2018-19, will receive $50 million in federal funding.
