Construction has resumed at the corner of 95th Street and Jasper Avenue, albeit for a different project than the one originally envisioned. The previous scheme for the site in The Quarters by local developer BCM Homes proposed two marquee residential towers. But as work for the 28-storey tower progressed to a 12-metre depth, the project team's failure to meet deadlines ultimately doomed further movement.

The new plans by Calgary-based developer Cidex Group reignite the property with a 24-storey apartment building called Hat @ Five Corners. The project name and scheduled start of construction was revealed in December.

To contain 199 studio to three-bedroom rental units, ground-level retail and underground parking, the NORR Architects-designed building is similarly scaled and named to The Hat in Calgary's East Village.

In contrast with our last update, the excavated site is no longer caked over with snow. Below-grade forming is now taking place, gradually moving construction towards grade.
