It's only been a little over a month since our last construction update for Westrich Pacific's Encore Tower, which is slated to become the tallest condo in the city. But in that short time, the fast-working crew at the corner of 103 Street and 102 Avenue has accomplished another major milestone: the erection of the tower crane.
The blue and white now crane soars from a pad five levels below the ground, where the multi-storey parking garage will be situated. After surfacing at grade, the tower will rise 43 storeys to a height of 138 metres. Programmatically, the building is segregated into three modules.
The penthouse levels stretch across floors 38 through 43 while resident and neighbourhood amenities occupy the podium. The middle section will house two-bedroom suites ranging from 812 to 1,484 square feet. Because of the building's design fashioned by Dub Architects, each suite benefits from corner views and external space.
The grand lobby entrance will be three storeys high and provide access to a lounge with a wet bar, a sundeck area with a wading pool, a landscaped rooftop patio and barbecue area, a fully equipped gym, and an indoor/outdoor fireplace.
A recent album of images posted to our Forum by contributor Daveography also show that hoarding has begun installation around the site, giving pedestrians a safe passageway along the property's bordering streets. It'll be a while until residents begin moving in — completion is anticipated in 2019 — but we'll continue to follow the progress as it climbs into the downtown skyline.
