More of a "never built" but I came across it again today and thought it was cool enough to create a thread for.

This was Redbrick's proposal in response to the City of Edmonton's RFP for new civic office space. The winning proposal was of course Edmonton Tower by Stantec, ONE Properties and Katz Group, in the ICE District.

It would have occupied this corner (actual east boundary is a guess, it may have been less of the block):

Architect is credited as Atelier3AM, which appears to have later become Axia Design - http://www.axiadesign.ca/

Really wish I had a copy of the design brief that was linked to from the Redbrick site.

HOLY CRAP! I would've loved something like this! (kinda puts the Edmonton tower to shame, not gonna lie...)

I’ll admit, at the time this project was proposed I was pretty staunchly against it as it would have destroyed the old Mitchell & Reed Auction House, possibly along with the Graphic Arts Building. However, seeing as the former has since been demolished anyway, and the latter is being moved, I’d love to see the design make a comeback. I always did like its flatiron shape, and how it was reminiscent of an E.

I also seem to recall Gene Dub submitting a proposal for the City offices at one point or another, located where the Great Western Garment/ Army & Navy Building is.

Maclab also put together a proposal for their parking lot site beside the Shaw Conference centre the building was quite boxy from what I remember but I always thought it was cool. It's sad that all these proposals happened but we didn't see the life of many of these projects.
