NAIT receives $34.9M in federal funding for new centre
The federal government has committed $34.9 million for a new building at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

The money will go to a new centre the institution said will create modern and innovative training and research opportunities for students and industry to develop, test and commercialize new technologies and products.

“Encouraging scientific awareness in Alberta and across Canada depends on supporting our world-class scientists and researchers,” federal Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi said.

Article Update:
The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton has received $34.9 million CAD in funding from the federal government earmarked for the creation of a Productivity and Innovation Centre. The four-storey facility will contain multiple state-of-the-art manufacturing labs, as well as acceleration and incubation space for small and medium sized businesses. The GEC Architecture-designed building will also house applied research space, providing an innovative and educational launchpad for the commercialization of new technologies.

Man alive how NAIT has grown since my time there only 8 years ago... and it had changed a fair amount since my dad went there in 67.

How many post-secondary institutions does Edmonton have?:
NAIT with a main campus and two satellite campuses in Edmonton and numerous satellite campuses in other Alberta centres.
University of Alberta with 4 Edmonton campuses (and the possibility of a fifth with the inclusion of Kipnes' Arts Centre north of City Hall) plus a campus in Camrose
MacEwan University with 3 Edmonton campuses (soon to consolidate two of those on the main downtown campus
Athabasca University with two Edmonton campuses (main campus in Athabasca)
Norquest College
Concordia University of Edmonton
The King's University
CDI College
Newman Theological College
Reeves College
Taylor College and Seminary
Vanguard College
Concordia Lutheran Seminary
Which ones am I missing?
