You started it by the insane comparison….so you crated an account to come onto the YEG forum to pick fights? Clever, please seek life elsewhere on the PEG’er thread
I’ve been meeting to create an account anyway. There is no skyrise Winnipeg thread, and I live in Edmonton.
It’s not that insane of a comparison. I would say Edmonton is seeing more changes than Winnipeg in total numbers, but because Winnipeg is a smaller city it feels like the last few years the ‘rate’ of improvement feels more rapid than in Edmonton. I only go to Winnipeg once a year so maybe the change feels more rapid but those are my observations.

Ah yes, this is the post that made me create an account. Someone disparaging my old hometown. :( Winnipeg may not be as big or busy as Edmonton or have a a rail system, but I don't find it absurd comparing Edmonton to Winnipeg. Winnipeg has done some great things with their downtown. The Exchange District is a gem, The Forks is evolving into a great inner city area, Boulevard Provencher is bustling, Osborne Village/Corydon is as cool as neighborhood as any in Edmonton.
Downtown Winnipeg's biggest issue is crime, but all cities suffer from it.
Winnipeg's downtown is deeply rooted in history. It is also the business, government and financial centre for its province so its downtown remains significant despite the problems it faces, which are similar to other cities.

Edmonton has either mostly forgotten we once had a great and vibrant downtown, or maybe many of the newcomers living in suburban areas don't realize this or care. I hope we can once again become a real city and not a collection of suburbs masquerading as one.
