I rode by this last week and was surprised anything was being developed. I was hoping for towers too, but I'd rather this than 20 more years of surface parking lot across the street from a beautiful park. Same with what looks like a substantial downsizing of The Shift. It'll build momentum towards the bigger picture -- Parks 2, the eventual redevelopment of Boston Pizza, etc.
Yeah I'd love more towers, but filling up empty lots with practically anything better should be the priority.

Vibrant downtowns and city centres don't always need to be filled with high rises.

It's too bad that we'll likely end up with towers along the south/west edges and low-rises on the north/east edges. The opposite would be better for sunlight into the park.

But that's a minor nitpick on what's looking like a successful area revelopment. Maybe people will appreciate the shade when it's +30!
