Westrich Pacific's Encore Tower broke ground in April, kickstarting the development of what will soon become the tallest condominium-only building in Edmonton. Today, the site looks markedly different. Crews have dug about four levels underground to accommodate the multi-level parking garage, and once they hit bottom, will be able to install the crane that will propel the tower into the top tier of the city's tallest buildings.

The 43-storey skyscraper sees the end of another downtown surface parking lot, this time at the corner of 103 Street and 102 Avenue. Prolific firm Dub Architects was assigned to the project and have crafted a slender form clad in large expanses of glazing. The top levels of the tower step back to permit space for penthouse terraces, while the podium is fastened to the streetscape with a three-storey lobby and street-oriented commercial spaces.

The stepped footprint of the tower allows for corner views across all suites. Two-bedroom arrangements, measuring between 812 and 1,484 square feet in size, are planned across floors five to 37. The penthouse units occupy the levels above with living spaces ranging from 1,294 to 2,786 square feet. Each of these suites will contain a private outdoor terrace and a high-end Kitchenaid appliance package.

For a residential development of this size, it will naturally boast a feature-filled amenities deck. The fourth floor will be home to these on-site conveniences, including a fully equipped fitness centre, an indoor lounging space, an extended entertainment bar, and a sprawling outdoor sun lounge with a wading pool.

Construction isn't expected to wrap up until the fall of 2019. Stay with us as we cover the forthcoming milestones in the project.
