It's been six weeks since we last checked in on construction at the CNIB Redevelopment site at the corner of Jasper Avenue and 120 Street, and though excavation is still in progress, it does appear to be reaching the bottom.

Photos from our Forum show a deep excavation that appears to have leveled off, with excavators continuing to remove soil from the hole. One Forum member estimates the final depth of the excavation to be about 20 metres.

Developed by ONE Properties and designed by Wallman Architects working with Architecture for the Blind, the redevelopment will see a 32-storey, 106-metre tower rising from the site of the former Canadian National Institute for the Blind.

The new building will provide up to 345 residential units and is designed to be easily navigated by those with impaired sight; CNIB is expected to reopen in a new 10,000-square-foot office on the second floor.
