Work is progressing at Stadium Yards, the first phase of the Muttart Lands Redevelopment; two months since our last look at the site, and the first structures are now appearing above grade.

Developed by Rohit Communities and designed by NORR, the project consists of two six-storey residential buildings, as well as one two-story commercial retail building. The residential buildings are being constructed as wood-framed buildings on top of a shared underground concrete parking structure.

Amenities for residents will include a fitness centre, meeting and work/study spaces, rooftop patios, and more.

The project is bringing 247 new residential units to the former industrial lands, near Stadium LRT Station, along with a 2,500-square-foot retail building which faces a new public park.

The developers have taken a unique approach on how to fill the retail building by holding a competition dubbed The Cut where the winning entrant receives a $125,000 inducement, an offer to lease the space for seven years, among other prizes.

Jack's Burger Shack was announced as the winning entry by a panel of judges in an event held last night at MacEwan University's Triffo Theatre. A video of the event can be viewed on Facebook.
