Following a ceremonial groundbreaking on September 30, shoring and site prep is now underway for CX Grandin, a new 21-story residential project located on the eastern edge of the Oliver neighbourhood near downtown.

Originally proposed as a 6-story condominium building, a slow uptake in sales resulted in InHouse - the infill development arm of Beaverbrook - returning to the drawing board. Working with GEC Architecture, the company returned with a proposal for a 53-metre rental tower with eight townhouses lining 110 Street.

Other features of the new development includes 17 three- and four-bedroom units that will hopefully also attract more families to the neighbourhood, as well as a rooftop patio amenity space for residents. The townhouses will each have wood accents and private garden space, and a colourful mural will adorn the tower entrance.

CX Grandin joins a number of projects proposed and under construction near Grandin LRT Station that will see hundreds of new residents as well as some new retail commercial space brought to this corner of the Oliver neighbourhood.
