The City of Edmonton will be hosting a public drop-in session in regards to the Mattson Neighbourhood Structure Plan on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019 from 6-8PM at the Orchards Residents Association (4059 Orchards Dr SW). Bounded to the north by the future 25 Ave SW, to the south by 41 Ave SW, to the west by 66 St SW, and to the east by 50 St SW, the 250-hectare site will be dramatically transformed over the coming years. Set to feature a mix of uses, including residential, commercial, parks and open spaces, and public utility lands, the massive suburban parcel will be redeveloped according to 21st-century urban planning wisdom.

Viewed above, the current scheme for the Mattson Neighbourhood Structure Plan is fairly straightforward, with the colour-coded legend identifying all of the various land uses and infrastructure types that will be added to the landscape. New roads and pedestrian/cycle paths will be created, as will new parks and other public spaces. Considering the sheer size of the parcel, however, it is critically important that local residents get informed about the project, and ensure that their voices are heard.
