More than six months since our last update, and progress at the site of Phase One of Beaverbrook Developments' West Block has moved ahead significantly. Both the 16-storey, mixed-use, 100 Block residential tower, and the timber-framed, 3-storey, 300 Block office building have now all but reached completion, with evidence of at least partial occupancy now evident within the former.
Set to be built in phases, the first two GEC Architecture-designed structures consist of a 60-unit highrise with retail at grade, and a flexible, timber-framed office block with two floors of office space placed above an additional ground floor of retail. Located at the corner of 142 St NW and Stony Plain Road in Glenora, West Block sits directly in the path of the upcoming Valley Line West LRT - and will be served by a stop.
Close as well to MacKinnon Ravine Park and the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, West Block will be convenient for nature lovers and dog walkers. Furthermore, the project's proximity to the Stony Plain Road commercial district will allow for residents and office workers alike to grab a quick bite without travelling too far from home.
While details on Phase Two - which will add at least two more towers to the site - remain scarce, it is rumoured that the arrival of the LRT will be a determining factor as to its commencement.
SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
