Six months since our last update, and progress at the Students' Association of MacEwan University (SAMU) building has moved ahead significantly. Exterior framing, insulation, and cladding work has now advanced a great deal, the scale of the project now more than clear to observers.

Located at the corner of 109 St NW and 104 Ave NW within the downtown core, SAMU has now partially enveloped the Christenson Family Centre for Sport. Designed by Stantec for MacEwan University, the three-storey development will soon become the new home (as the name implies) of the MacEwan University Students' Association.

SAMU will provide students with a modern, airy space for club meetings, special events, study areas, and food vendors. More than this, SAMU will be the heart and soul of the student experience at MacEwan University.

With glazing work now well underway, it will not belong before the exterior spandrel paneling makes an appearance, the structure to be clad in a mix of glass and spandrel. Set for its debut in this Fall, SAMU will be a popular destination for all things student life in only a few months' time.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
