The Downtown Edmonton Community League has shared new renderings of developer Great Gulf's 185-metre proposal for the current plot of green space beside the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. The images, which focus mainly on the interaction between the building and the intersection of Jasper Avenue and 100 Street NW, precede a drop-in engagement session scheduled next week.

The active planning application aims to rezone the properties at 9955 Jasper Avenue and 10085 100 Street NW at the southeast corner of the intersection. The 61-storey residential tower will be anchored by a commercial base and a publicly accessible plaza.

The released renderings, along with an interactive conceptual model posted on the City's website, demonstrates how the building will impact views of the historic Hotel Macdonald. The publicly accessible plaza has been proposed between the tower and the hotel as a buffer to protect views.

A drop-in engagement session is being held on Tuesday, April 30 from 6 to 8 PM inside the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald's Drawing Room. The development is scheduled to go before the Edmonton Design Committee at 4:30 PM the same day.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
