Nearly three months since our last update, and finishing touches at the JW Marriott have now all but completed. Captured on a fine spring day, the most recent photos of the 56-storey, mixed-use tower by Hariri Pontarini Architects and DIALOG highlight the extent to which the magnificent tower blends into the Edmonton skyline.

Standing tall at 191 metres, Edmonton's second-tallest high-rise gives good competition to its famous neighbour, the sleek, smooth lines of the JW Marriott offering a nice contrast to the more angular silhouette of the adjacent Stantec Tower. Located squarely within the heart of the ICE District, the JW Marriott's mix of 262 condos and 346 hotel rooms will serve the area well, providing excellent options for both residents and tourists alike.

With the bulk of the exterior work on the tower now complete, it appears that efforts have been redirected to the large, multi-storey podium base. To this end, the image below reveals the presence of some of the remaining (mostly) cosmetic work yet to be done.

Once complete, the JW Marriott will be a landmark project for the city, the structure to be one of the crown jewels of Edmonton's rapidly rising ICE District.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
