The City of Edmonton is hosting one of several planned public information and input drop-in sessions tonight at the Delton Community League, Main Hall, 12325 88 St NW, from 3-7PM. The drop-in session will be a chance for interested or concerned members of the public to gather information and ask questions about the upcoming freeway conversion as planned for a 20-km stretch of Yellowhead Trail from 156 St NW to Victoria Trail.
The east-west traffic artery, spanning almost the entirety of the city proper, north of the core and south of Anthony Henday Drive, will be converted into a full-blown freeway, complete with limited access ramps, and the removal of traffic signals. Signaled intersections, such as those which currently exist at Yellowhead Trail and 121 St NW (below), will be converted into interchanges, allowing for a maximum speed of 80 km/h.
In addition to attending in person, the City is encouraging the public to take part in an online survey, the results of which will be forwarded to City staff for review.
