A month since we last checked in at the site of Edgar Developments' The MacLaren, and progress on exterior cladding and glazing work has been swift as the 27-storey tower continues its ascent. Now standing roughly 20 storeys above grade, it will only be a matter of months until the 240-unit rental project tops off.

Designed by DIALOG, The MacLaren is in the process of being clad in a mix of clear glazing and white spandrel, the mixed-use project to house a combination of retail and restaurant space at ground level.

Well-known to locals, The MacLaren has temporarily replaced the historic Glenora Bed & Breakfast Inn, formerly the Buena Vista Apartments, the facade of which will be reincorporated into the base of the project in the form of a highly faithful facsimile.

Viewed above, the unglazed corner portion of the podium will soon become the home of the aforementioned heritage facsimile, 124th Street and 102nd Ave to once again sport a redbrick aesthetic. Once complete, the space will be complemented by an outdoor patio cafe space, along with a row of fine grain retail.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
