In the month since our last update, progress at the site of The MacLaren has been moving along nicely, the soon-to-be 27-storey tower now reaching several levels above grade, the nascent structure having already acquired a sizeable street presence. Located at the corner of 124 St NW and 102 Ave NW, at the western edge of Oliver, and the southern terminus of the Westmount commercial strip, the project is well situated for buyers looking for a mix of city living and neighbourhood cachet.

Designed by DIALOG, the Edgar Developments-built project will soon bring 240 residential units to the area, the projected increase of at least 300 new residents to inject a punch of pedestrian vibrancy to the rapidly changing neighbourhood. Speaking of change, The MacLaren build site will eventually incorporate a facsimile of a century-old commercial building that was demolished to make way for the tower's construction.

Set to include a healthy mix of residential and retail, TheMaclaren will lend itself well to the area, the addition of the semi-protected forecourt and seating, visible in the above illustration, to be a nice addition to the local streetscape.

Viewed above from the rear, The MacLaren has now reached four levels above grade. With more than twenty to go, it will be some time yet before we begin to see how the full height of the structure will fit into its surroundings, to say nothing of the heritage facade which will more than likely pique the interests of local residents and heritage enthusiasts.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
