Sir Winston Churchill Square feels just a little happier this week, with the opening of Happy Wall, a traveling art exhibition that makes its first Canadian visit here in Edmonton.

The interactive installation, created by Copenhagen artist Thomas Dambo in 2014, allows anyone to flip open or shut 1,040 coloured panels made of reclaimed wood in order to create images or spell out phrases.

The colourful exhibit has previously graced cities in Denmark, Chile, Brazil, and the United States, and will remain in Churchill Square for one year, until May 2019.

Happy Wall joins regular summer programming on the square, which includes basketball, life-size chess and checkers, table tennis, and food trucks every weekday during lunch hours.
