In the three months since our last update, significant progress has been made at the site of the East Campus Village 9 (ECV 9) residence building at the University of Alberta. Located at 90 Ave NW and 111 St NW, ECV 9 has now received most of its cladding, the wooden frame now hidden behind a layer of engineered spandrel, siding, and glass.

Designed by Hodgson Schlif Architects, ECV 9 will soon be home to 300 coeds, with a range of dorm configurations from 4-6 bedrooms. Viewed in close-up below, the main entrance to ECV 9 has been finished in glass, its concave construction to allow a bit of respite from the elements.

Framing the entrance, the white-panelled window bays will provide students with a view of the of U of A's environs, the campus endowed with a healthy canopy of mature trees.

Once complete, ECV 9 will be a welcome addition to the U of A, its subtle design palette to allow it to blend naturally into the broader campus.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
