The Federal and Provincial governments have recently announced a joint commitment of $4 million in funding to go towards the current redevelopment of the Stanley A. Milner Library now underway at Sir Winston Churchill Square in downtown Edmonton. These funds will form part of the total, $84.5 million cost of the project, and will come in the form of two $2 million investments coming federally from the New Building Canada Fund, and provincially from a Municipal Affairs grant.

Clad in a skin of corrugated metal, punctuated here and there by an array of geometric window openings, the new library will have a distinct presence, inspired in part by the promotion of STEM materials and activities to be held within its walls once the project is completed.

Soon to be home to a combined 6,500 square feet of publicly-accessible community, meeting, performance, and study space, the Stanley A. Milner Library is set to open in 2020. Part of downtown Edmonton's ongoing revitalization efforts, the new facility will likely be a popular destination for visitors of all ages.

SkyriseEdmonton will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
