The approved names for the 14 street-level stops and two elevated stations that will comprise the future Valley Line West LRT have been released. The City of Edmonton's Naming Committee based their decision primarily on location to support effective passenger wayfinding, with some nods to local history thrown in.

One of the Downtown stops pays tribute to Alex Decoteau, Canada's first Indigenous police officer, who joined the Edmonton Police Service in 1911. A park bearing his name opened to the public last year. Another stop, The Yards/116 Street, recognizes the long-standing CN Rail Yards that had operated in the area. A full list of the names:

The 14-kilometre second stage of the Valley Line LRT will connect the core to Lewis Farms in the west. The southeast portion of the 27-kilometre line, currently under construction, will stretch to Mill Woods. Valley Line West is in the design phase, with procurement possible by the end of 2018.
