Before we rang in the new year, we asked the SkyriseEdmonton community to take stock of how the city has changed by selecting their favourite projects completed in 2017. From completely new buildings to recladdings of old buildings to major infrastructure projects, our readers resoundingly confessed their love for the city's streetscape-altering additions. And with high-profile developments like the Royal Alberta Museum set for completion in 2018, this year is shaping up to be another memorable chapter in urban Edmonton's success story.

Participants were permitted to vote for up to three projects, and to no surprise, the new Walterdale Bridge was a fan favourite. Collecting more than half of voters' hearts and minds, the signature river crossing placed first in the poll. MacEwan University's Allard Hall was the top building, earning nearly 37 percent of the vote. The recladding of WSP Place, which now boasts a vibrant night lighting scheme, came third with 30 percent. Just two votes away from ranking in the top three, the newly opened 100 Street Funicular settled for fourth. The neighbourhood-focused Ritchie Market at 76 Avenue and 96 Street NW won 15 percent of the vote to place fifth, while NorQuest College's Singhmar Centre for Learning recorded roughly 13 percent.

The only new highrise in the poll, Fox Two, tied with Alex Decoteau Park, with 8.33 percent of readers choosing those projects. The attached Beljan and Ortlieb Blocks received nearly 7 percent of the vote, tying with Peter Lougheed Hall. A single write-in option for Enbridge Centre was recorded, though that project was completed and occupied in 2016.
