Residents of Edmonton's Lendrum Place neighbourhood have been invited to an open house to learn more about a proposed rezoning and redevelopment at 11420 60 Avenue NW that would replace a pair of Y-shaped apartment buildings with two L-shaped mid-rise buildings. The existing three-storey duo, the Lendrum Manor and Lendrum Villa, were built in the mid-1960s and are owned and operated by the applicant, Capital Region Housing Corporation.

The proposed rezoning would reclassify the site from Low Rise Apartment Zone to Site Specific Development Control Provision, allowing CRHC and Bennett Architect to build two buildings tiered up to six storeys and 20 metres in height. The proponents are seeking a maximum of 126 market and non-market rental housing units on the property, including layouts featuring up to four bedrooms.

There is also an "opportunity for ground level amenities or commercial spaces, such as a convenience store or daycare." Parking would be situated underground at the rear. A publicly accessible pathway would cut through the site and provide easier access to the South Campus/Fort Edmonton Park LRT station.

The open house is being held on Tuesday, January 23 at the Lendrum Community Hall (11335 57 Avenue NW). Those interested in attending the event can drop-in anytime from 6 to 8 PM, as there is no formal presentation scheduled.
