After significant below-grade works advanced for months, the Stantec Tower is now quickly ascending from the heart of the ICE District. The 66-storey office and residential tower at the corner of 102 Street and 103 Avenue will become Western Canada's tallest building and the headquarters of consulting and engineering giant Stantec, with other space across the first 28 floors leased by PricewaterhouseCoopers and Dentons Canada LLP. A Rexall, Oliver & Bonacini restaurant, and a daycare facility lay claim to some of the retail space. The remaining 38 floors will be occupied by 481 condominium units.

The fully customizable office floor plans employ a range of interior designs and typologies designed to cater to the needs of tenants. Executive, open, touchdown, and collaborative office plans boast a surplus of meeting rooms and workplaces surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows. Travel in and out of the building has also been optimized. Stantec Tower tenants will enjoy access to a 504-stall heated parkade. When the dust settles, approximately 4,000 parking stalls in all underground garages will service the ICE District. Transit users will have indoor pedway access to MacEwan, Churchill, Central, and Bay Stations. Above-ground connections to Rogers Place, Edmonton Tower, JW Marriott Hotel, and Bell Tower will also be made available.

Stantec Tower hopes to achieve an ambitious energy usage target of 110 KwH/m2/year, representing one third of the energy intensity of a typical Edmonton building. High thermal insulation, occupancy sensors, lighting controls, refrigeration heat recovery systems and passive design strategies like daylight harvesting and optimal building orientation will reduce the need for energy. By recycling greywater and applying a strategy of native and adaptive landscaping, the building's water usage will be minimized. The tower is targeting LEED Gold certification upon completion.

A recent batch of photos shows the building's steel-framed commercial podium next to the tower, which has climbed about seven storeys into the air so far. The office component is scheduled for delivery in 2018, with the upper residential portion subsequently ready for residents in the fall of 2019.
